Why should I hire an organizer or interior designer?

Are you like other interior design firms in Houston?
Design goes hand in hand with organization. Often times, we’ll start an organizing project and it will evolve into a design project. While we are not a formal interior design firm, our design team operates as such. The services we offer include: custom floor plans and layouts, selection of interior finishes (hardware, paint colors, stone countertops, flooring, wallpaper, etc.), furniture and home accent purchasing, decorating & styling (bookshelves, coffee tables, desks, etc.), art selection and installation and more.
What does the interior design process look like?
While each project is different, our approach is the same. We start by setting up a consultation that typically takes 25-30 minutes. After our contract is signed, we’ll schedule the first “official” design meeting where we’ll go into more detail regarding your budget, scope and goals for the project. From there, we create a tailored strategy that typically includes a declutter phase, floor plan layout, purchase list and a proposed timeline. Whether we expect the project to be completed in one day or a few weeks, our team is respectful with our client’s time and will provide routine updates on the progression of each project.
How long do organizing projects take?
This will entirely depend on the project! However, we are wizards when it comes to attacking a space with precision and efficiency. Something that may take you weeks to complete, our skilled team can tackle in one day. Smaller spaces such as a pantry, closet or bathroom usually take us one full day.
Do you require that your client is home and available during organizing projects?
We do not! We pride ourselves on establishing a trusting relationship with our clients and we typically work independently of your schedule. We know that your time is precious, so we prefer to let you go about your day-to-day life while we get to work. In our initial meeting, we will establish whether or not you would like to be present (of course, you are always welcome!). Each project usually begins with a declutter stage and if we are sorting through any personal items, we do ask that you are clear with us on which items can be given away, trashed, and stored. The last thing we want to do is misplace or throw away something of value.
Is your team open to accepting tasks outside your listed services?
Absolutely. We get asked to do ‘odd’ jobs all the time, which we love! We’ve designed and organized everything from pet quarters to corporate offices. It is actually for this reason that we chose to expand V&H from a small husband and wife handyman team to a professional organizing and design business.
