Spring into Spring Cleaning with V&H
Spring season is upon us! Which means it’s time to bust out the rubber gloves and make your spring cleaning to-do lists.
Before you let the overwhelm settle in, keep in mind that it’s called ‘Spring Cleaning’ for a reason — because you have an entire season to accomplish it! Not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered!
spring cleaning: where to start
Clean Up Your Cleaning Products
First things first: clean up your cleaning products! You’ll be much more inclined to roll up your sleeves and tackle some deep cleaning and organizing when you’ve got all the right tools & products at your disposal. When it comes to your cleaning products, the most important part of organization and storage is that it’s easily accessible and can travel with you from space to space. Enter, our favorite catchall caddy — your new spring cleaning best friend.
2. Make a Plan
Set yourself up for success by creating a Spring Cleaning plan or strategy. This will serve as your roadmap, and it will feel oh-so-good to check things off this list! If you’re not sure the best way to put together a strategy, start by asking yourself these three questions:
What areas of my home need the most attention?
What part(s) of my living space could be quickly organized? (low hanging fruit!)
What spaces in my home would make my life easier and less stressful if cleaned and organized?
3. Declutter, declutter & declutter some more!
Before we begin any organizing project, we always start first by removing the excess. Not only is the process of purging and decluttering emotionally satisfying, it provides you with a clean slate to dive into the actual organizing. Because who wants to organize junk and clutter?
4. Start With a Rewarding Task
Don’t try to cram it all into one intense weekend of cleaning. To mitigate “burn out,” split up your tasks into smaller chunks of work that have a clear start and finish. Think about what task is going to feel SO good to cross off your list, and start there. Is the tupperware drawer filled with mismatched lids and containers leftover from the holiday season? Is your pantry feeling like no-mans land? Whatever you identify to be your biggest pain point, start there. The sense of accomplishment in tackling this space will serve as motivation to keep going from there!
And remember, if all else fails and you need an extra set of hands (or someone to take over entirely!) — we are here to help you!
